Faith in Action Ministry hosted a Black youth concert and invited CMPD officers to address some of the issues between youth and police on Sunday. Performers tell Fox46 Charlotte the protests showed young people’s distrust with law enforcement.

Captain Norman Garnes from CMPD addressed the crowd and performers about police outreach and program in the community.

“We want the community to know that we are here for them, as well as we hope they are there for us,” said Garnes. “So it’s important just to be a part of the community for everyone to come together and move forward.”
